How It Works

STEP 1:
System-wide inter-library loan officially resumes as of June 22nd! Request your materials through our online catalog or call us at 845-424-3020 with your library card barcode. Not sure what you want? Call us for help.

Hint: enter your library barcode in your phone because you will need it.

STEP 2:
We will call or email you with a confirmation notice when your items are ready to be picked up or to arrange for a delivery.

Please note: delivery services are limited to local addresses in Philipstown only and may take a week or more to schedule.

STEP 3:
Drive to the Library during any of our open hours (Weds-Sat). Follow signs to curbside parking. Stay in your vehicle and call 845-424-3020 when you arrive. Please have your library card barcode number ready.

STEP 4:

Library staff will bring your bagged items out to the front porch for you to pick up.

Please wait until staff have gone back inside the library before exiting your vehicle to claim your bag. A receipt with return due dates will be included with your items.

Enjoy!

STEP 5:

Items may be returned to the Library’s outside book drop starting June 8th. All returns will be quarantined for 72+ hours before being processed back into the shared collection.

Book Drop is Open

All returns can be placed in the outdoor book drop and will be quarantined for 72+ hours.

Behind the Scenes

DFPL is taking a phased reopening approach that prioritizes the health and safety of our patrons and staff.

All returned materials will be quarantined for 72 hours before being processed and circulated. This time limit exceeds public health recommendations. Your items will be taken off your account after their 72-hour quarantine period (this will not create penalties for your account in any way).

On-site staff are required to wear face coverings, wash hands thoroughly and frequently, and maintain proper distance during any in-person interactions. We are busy shelving books, pulling requested materials, quarantining returned materials, and preparing the library building and our collections for our next planned phase of reopening.

Have a question? Library staff are available to take your questions by phone at 845-424-3020 and email at staff@desmondfishlibrary.org Mondays through Saturdays from 10am to 5pm! We are also providing and expanding virtual services and programs, along with our digital collections.
