It can be overwhelming to sort through the deluge of information on the internet in the best of times, let alone a troubled online era like this one. If you’ve found yourself befuddled by uncertain information or just want to brush up on your fact-checking detective skills, join Digital Services Coordinator Ryan Biracree for a nonpartisan and welcoming Fact Check Happy Hour! Every other Wednesday beginning September 16th, bring along with any perplexing or troublesome information you’ve found online, and we’ll fact check it together as a group over Zoom. You’ll learn quick, common-sense skills to spot falsehood and misdirection, an overview of reliable sites for fact-checking, red flags to avoid –– and, of course, get a look into some prime examples of misinformation making the rounds today, all in a supportive and fun group atmosphere. All ages welcome, with special tips for seniors.
