Author Talk with Charity Shumway, author of Bountiful and Ten Girls to Watch in conversation with author and historian Melissa Inouye
 
Charity Shumway is the author of the novels Bountiful and Ten Girls to Watch. She received an MFA in Creative Writing from Oregon State University and a BA in English from Harvard University. She graduated from Viewmont High School in Bountiful, Utah and now lives with her husband and three sons in Garrison, New York. Melissa Inouye is a professor of Asian Studies at the University of Auckland and a historian at the Church History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She received her undergraduate and doctoral degrees from Harvard University. She and her family have lived in Hong Kong and New Zealand but currently reside in Draper, Utah. She is the author of a history book, China and the True Jesus: Charisma and Organization in a Chinese Christian Church, and a memoir, Crossings: a bald Asian American Latter-day Saint woman scholar’s ventures through life, death, cancer, and motherhood (not necessarily in that order).
