August 21, 2021 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

On Saturday, August 21st at 3:30 pm Chernicoff will read from her book, Amoretti. Chernicoff is the author of four collections of poetry, most recently, Amoretti, published by Lunar Chandelier Collective. Mary Newell will read from her new poetry chapbook, Re-SURGE (Trainwreck Press 2021). Through a narrative about the developing friendship between a mermaid who escapes from a tragic fairy tale and a gardener/ poet who is fearful of the ocean, the book explores issues of awkward embodiment and ecological distress. The actress Birgit Huppuch will read the mermaid’s voice.
Newell also authored the chapbook TILT/ HOVER/ VEER (Codhill Press 2019), poems in journals and anthologies, and essays including “When Poetry Rivers,” forthcoming in Interim journal. She is co-editor of Poetics for the More-than-Human-World: An Anthology of Poetry and Commentary. She lives in Garrison.
