Exploring Masterpieces of the Metropolitan Museum of Art

December 26, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Metropolitan Museum of Art! This program takes a deep dive into how the Met grew from a museum with a principal goal of competing with European art collections, to becoming one of the world’s preeminent museums and cultural landmarks. We’ll explore masterpieces of the museum, comparing and contrasting works of art that cover over 5,000 years of art history.

Marisa Horowitz-Jaffe has been studying and teaching ancient history for over 25 years. She enjoyed a two-decade career in professional museum education in elite NYC art institutions. She holds a double bachelor’s degree in Classical Archaeology and Egyptology from the University of Michigan, and a master’s degree from Harvard University in Art and Museum Education. She founded www.MuseumsWithMarisa.com and leads both in-person and virtual Metropolitan Museum of Art tours, as well as online programs on Ancient Egypt and Ancient Rome to libraries and schools. She currently lives in the Bronxville area with her husband and nine-year-old twins.
