2:00 pm - Family Music Concert with Mark Rust

May 23, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Do you know how to play the spoons? You will if you check out the upcoming concert at the Desmond-Fish Public Library with the multi-talented performer Mark Rust. On Saturday, May 23rd, Mark will perform a show that will be enjoyed by everyone of all ages. The show will feature fun sing-alongs on a variety of instruments including guitar, banjo, fiddle, and hammered dulcimer. In addition, as promised everyone will learn to play the spoons and participate in a couple of easy traditional American country dances (no experience necessary)!

Mark starred in the Broadway Musical Hit Pump Boys & Dinettes and has appeared in People Magazine performing with Pete Seeger and Peter, Paul & Mary. He has released several recordings including Songs of America on Golden Books, and can currently be seen playing music in the recent Terrence Malick film The Better Angels about Abraham Lincoln’s boyhood years. Mark has been nominated for a Campus Entertainer of the Year Award in Family Programs by the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA).

This free event is made possible, in part, through the Friends of the Desmond-Fish Public Library and the Putnam Arts Council’s Arts Link Grant Program, with public funds provided through the NY State Council on the Arts with support from Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the NY State Legislature.
