Friends of the Library Book Sale

The Friends of the Library look forward to welcoming patrons back for another spectacular year of their annual book sale!
The sale is open to the public from Saturday, August 24 through Wednesday, September 4. Friends members can attend a special members-only night on Friday, August 23rd. You can join at the library, at the door, or online.
Frequently Asked Questions
When can I bring books to the library to donate to the book sale?
Book donations will be accepted on WEEKENDS ONLY (Saturdays & Sundays) between July 13 and August 11 from 12:00-5:00 pm. Donations will be collected by volunteers in the storage pod in the library parking lot.
What kind of books can I donate?
Gently used books in good condition of any genre or age level!
We DO NOT accept:
- Books damaged by mold or mildew
- Encyclopedias, dictionaries or textbooks
- VHS or cassette tapes
- Travel guides published before 2022
- Coloring books
What if I bring books or other materials that are not accepted?
We encourage you to dispose of items which we are not able to accept via local recycling or disposal. Unaccepted items require the library to arrange for proper disposal, taking time and money that we would rather spend serving our community! Please find another way to recycle or dispose of any items from the prohibited list above.
When is the book sale happening?
The book sale will be open from August 23rd through September 4th.
- Saturday: 10AM-5PM
- Sunday: 1- 5PM
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 1-5PM
- Tuesday & Thursday: 4-8PM
- Labor Day Weekend: 10AM-5PM
Can I volunteer at the book sale?
Yes, please! We are in need of volunteers from July 13th through mid-September to sort, set up, run, and take down the book sale. This is a big project and we need help from our community to make it a success. If you are interested in volunteering please contact friends@desmondfishlibrary.org, or click here to sign up! Hours and shifts will continue to be added.
