An event every 2 weeks that begins at 2:00 pm on Sunday, repeating until December 23, 2024
Girls Who Code is a club for students to explore coding in a fun and friendly environment, while building bravery, resilience, creativity, and purpose. This club is a free program for rising 3rd-5th grade students to join a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models that use computer science to change the world. We offer fun activities through a flexible curriculum that includes hands-on craft activities, as well as Scratch code-alongs. Girls Who Code is on a mission to close the gender gap in technology and to change the image of what a programmer looks like and does.
What will our Girls Who Code do? Learn the concepts of loops, variables, conditionals and functions that form the basis of all programming languages. Complete challenges in a collaborative team setting and build coding confidence through creative projects. If this sounds like fun to you, come join us in the Innovation and Learning Center on our basement floor every other Sunday afternoon. This group is designed for students that identify as female or non-binary and are current or rising 3rd through 5th graders. Students may bring their personal laptops or borrow one of ours at the library.
