2:00 pm - Juneteenth Jazz Concert

To commemorate the new Federal Juneteenth holiday, the Desmond-Fish Public Library in Garrison presents a jazz concert by Jasper Cain and the Rhythm Collective. The concert, which will include a discussion of the meaning of Juneteenth, will be on Saturday, June 18 at 2pm.

Bass player and band leader Jasper Cain will present a program of jazz classics. An educator, Mr. Cain will also speak during the program on the history and significance of Juneteenth for all Americans.  He will be joined by local students presenting historic readings.

The Rhythm Collective, based in Westchester, is a group of talented musicians  who come together to perform a wide range of diverse musical selections including covers of well known songs as well as original compositions. They have played with Chaka Khan, Olatunji, Grateful Dead, and Carlos Santana and made music in venues throughout the northeast.
