Songs of Harmony, Strife, and Spirit an MLK Family Concert with Goldee Greene and Tom McCoy

Juilliard-trained Goldee Greene is an award-winning recording artist and stage performer.  She started her career in a stage production of Finian’s Rainbow, starring Billy Crystal, at Summer Stock Theater and has since gone on tour as the lead in the Urban Bush Women’s acclaimed dance/opera, Praise House, which opened at Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, D.C., and Theatre Artaud, in San Francisco.  She has sung with Pete Seeger on his Grammy-award-winning single, God’s Counting on Me, God’s Counting on You.  And In film, she appears in Cool Runnin’s: The Reggae Movie, with the great Bankie Banx’s Roots ‘n Herbs band. Goldees’ original, full-length musical, Sprang Thang was produced by Amas Musical Theatre Company and ran for two weeks Off-Broadway at the Player’s Theatre.  Locally, Goldee performed in For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf, at the Beacon Theatre.END.

Tom McCoy is a versatile pianist, arranger, and composer, moving seamlessly between the worlds of classical, jazz, theater, and pop. He has appeared on stage with James Taylor, Ray Charles, Natalie Merchant, Judy Collins, Kate Pierson, Garth Hudson, Robert Goulet, Lea Salonga, and many other celebrities. He has taught music and theater at SUNY New Paltz, Mount Saint Mary’s College, SUNY Dutchess, and Poughkeepsie Day School; he has recently lectured at Juilliard on jazz influences in classical music.
