Step Your Story Up! Writer’s Workshop

Bring your song lyrics, poems, photo essays, biographies, graphic novels, video games, cultural criticism, plays, fiction, or nonfiction. Editorial Consultant David Meltzer will be guiding Step Your Story Up, a new writer’s workshop open to all. We’ll have icebreakers, establish ground rules for engaging in each other’s work, discuss story structure, and work to collectively enhance our writing.
This month we will be meeting upstairs in the Fish Room.
How it works
All writing shared on this registration form will be organized into a Reading Materials Packet which attendees will receive in advance of our workshop. Author names will be removed so we can focus on the writing. Submitting writing in advance is not required to attend the workshop.
At the workshop, we’ll meditate, read aloud all the writing in the packet, and share our feedback. I’ll walk us through the writing, offer advice I would give as if the author were my client, and encourage participation from our entire group. The purpose of this workshop is to improve our writing by using professional practices I’ll share to develop, structure, and clarify our stories.
Coffee and pastries from Signal Fire Bread will be provided.
